Mobile World Congress, Barcelona & Mountain Biking
Its a week before the annual Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and I’m asking you: Are you tired of all those hours walking up and down the booths? The endless meetings? Desperate to move yourself after all those corporate parties?
Why don’t you treat yourself before all the craziness and hit the trails around Barcelona? That is what I did last year. Here’s how you can do it to:
Get a brand new Canyon MTB from Terra Bike Tours complete with GPS routes and set out to explore.
Climb up to El Tibidabo (28 km)
A great, refreshing climb (512m) up to El Tibidabo, the mountain overlooking Barcelona with the Sagrat Cor church and adjacent Tibidabo Amusement Park.
From here you’ll get a great overview of Barcelona and its surroundings. The parks surrounding is a very popular hiking and jogging area amongst the locals.

Barcelona-Olorda-Santa Creu d’ Olorda-Serra de Can Julia-Montserrat-La Foresta-Les Planes-Can Caralleu-Barcelona (44km)
This is a half-day ride and not for the faint hearted. Beautiful scenery on trails and dirt roads in the mountains surrounding Barcelona.
The route goes through small picturesque villages and through Santa Cruz de Olorde a romanesque stone chapel with sweeping views of a tree-lined valley in the Collserola national park.
Besides its beautiful view, it has a nice little restaurant and cafe where you grab a well deserved cold beer. The ride too me a little more than 3 hours but is challenging at times due to the climbs.
You need to be experienced and in shape to ride this one unless you have all the day. An alternative is just to ride to Santa Cruz de Olorde to get a taste of the area and then head back to Barcelona.
Urban Barcelona (30k)
This route fits all regardless of fitness and is a great way to see some of the landmarks in Barcelona and just enjoy riding along the beach.
Start by climbing up Montjuic via Fira Barcelona Montjuic overlooking the harbor.
Then ride down to boardwalk and follow it until you reach the beach. From here you can bike as long as you want along the beach and take a break on one of the many cafes and bars.
Admire the modern architecture as you ride along the beach.
Every Night
Hangout at BierCab the best and friendliest craft beer bar in Barcelona. Always a great selection of fresh craft beers and very friendly staff. Here’s where you’ll find me in the evenings this year as well talking to entrepreneurs, investors and beerpreneurs. Have a hoppy one!
